Description
The new Shelly Bypass R2, launching in September 2022, is an accessory from Shelly that works in conjunction with the Shelly 1L single-wire WiFi Smart Relay and the Shelly Dimmer 2 single-wire WiFi Smart Dimmer. The use of Shelly Bypass is only required if energy efficient bulbs are used in conjunction with smart relays (such as LED bulbs).
Specifically, it is required if:
- Shelly 1L is used with a bulb or other electrical device with a wattage of less than 20W, or
- Shelly Dimmer 2 is used with a bulb with a wattage of less than 10W.
It is only required when Shelly 1L or Shelly Dimmer 2 are used in a single wire installation, i.e. without neutral wire.
